Diets And Weight Loss

Diets

Do your trousers pinch, do you quickly get out of breath when you climb the stairs or do you no longer feel comfortable in your favorite piece of clothing? There are a variety of reasons people feel the desire to lose weight – it’s often how they look and feel, but in some cases it’s also a health imperative to shed unwanted pounds.

Read here how to lose weight properly in order to be successful in the long term, which diets are available and which are particularly healthy.

Around two-thirds of men and just over half of women in India are overweight, and the trend is rising. The reason for this is usually an incorrect and unbalanced diet and lack of exercise.

Depending on the number on the scale, it is not only an aesthetic problem, but also poses certain health risks. So the reasons for losing weight can be different. But that’s not always easy: the temptations of fast food and a lack of exercise in the home office make it difficult to maintain or lose weight in the long term.

But how to lose weight? And what can you eat on a diet to achieve the desired figure? If you want to lose a few pounds in a healthy way, you need patience. Radical diets promise rapid weight loss, but often lead to the yo-yo effect.

The basis for lasting success is a fundamental change in diet and regular exercise. It starts with the purchase: if you don’t have any sweets in stock, don’t even be tempted! In the supermarket, it is therefore better to grab foods that provide a lot of nutrients and vitamins and therefore have a comparatively little effect on the calorie account. A few tricks in everyday life will also help you to eat more consciously and in a more balanced way.

There is a wide range of diets to choose from. But not everyone is suitable for everyone, some have risks and should not be used in the case of health restrictions or only after consultation with a doctor.

But what actually is a diet? The word diet comes from ancient Greek and means something like “lifestyle”. Today we understand it to mean a temporary or long-term change in diet with the aim of reducing weight or another aspect of health, such as regulating blood values

Diets often promise weight loss in the shortest possible time. To do this, they work in different ways. Some influence the metabolism – these include, for example, the anabolic diet, the Atkins diet or the Lutz diet. For others, the body’s own insulin production plays a role. This is the case with the Glyx diet and the Logi method, among others.

Another process that some diet concepts like the keto diet take advantage of is called ketosis. The body gains energy from the existing fat reserves instead of resorting to “fast” energy sources from food. Certain foods such as carbohydrates and sugar are deliberately avoid.

In so-called crash or mono diets, on the other hand, only a few food groups  allow. Examples of this are the pineapple diet, rice diet, cabbage soup diet, Hollywood diet or the Max Planck diet. The consumer center and the German Society for Nutrition (DGE) advise against such concepts.

since the one-sided nutrition plan can lead to deficiency symptoms and a yo-yo effect is inevitable.

This is in contrast to mixed-eating diets, which do not ban any food but instead focus on a balanced dietary change. This includes, for example, the Mediterranean or Paleo diet.

Almost all diets aim for a calorie deficit – meaning you take in less energy from food than you expend. In order to later be able to maintain the desired body weight, energy intake and energy expenditure must be in balance.
